Red Fern Poetry Night!

April 30, 2026 6:00 PM 106 South Santa Fe Ave, Salina, KS, United States, Kansas 67401

Join your local booksellers in a night of listening and supporting local poets. We have invited two local poets to read selections of their work. Megan Hartford of Manhattan, KS and Kevin Peterson of Salina, KS.

Megan Hartford is an embodied, middle-aged woman who writes poetry, loves to dance, is in awe of her daughters and crazy about her friends, follows her curiosity, thrives outside her comfort zone, brings people together, bakes pies, gets tattoos, walks every day, rides her bike every once in a while, roller skates less than she'd like, is stronger than ever, volunteers in her community, embraces the erotic, occasionally teaches yoga, gardens here and there, goes to concerts often, reads even more, growing and healing always. Megan is the author of two poetry books, Worth Knowing and Little Vultures.

Kevin Peterson is a 4th generation Kansas born on January 29 – Kansas Day. His affinity for poetry began in high school and grew as a result of a local writer’s group. He was fortunate enough to have many of his early works published by editors of numerous poetry magazines that were in print during the 1980s. Another one of Kevin’s passions is photography. As such, his current project combines two art forms: photography-- the art of recording light with poetry-- the art of language to express and convey emotions, experience, and ideas. He calls it a “poetograph.”
