National Senior Citizens Day is observed every year on August 21 in the United States.

It was first proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 as a way to recognize the contributions older adults have made throughout their lives and to raise awareness about issues affecting seniors, such as health, financial security, and quality of life.
