I like to say I grew up “under a rock in the middle of a wheat field.” It usually gets a laugh—until I explain that I was raised in a limestone house on a historic Great Plains farmstead, surrounded by wheat and soybeans as far as the eye could see.

That landscape shaped the way I see the world. My photography is rooted in the history, resilience, and quiet beauty of the Great Plains—from rolling hills and rugged weather to fleeting sunsets, wildflowers, streams, and the people who continue to live off the land.

America’s Heartland challenges the idea that this region is flat and empty. It’s a place alive with movement and stillness, where deer and antelope roam alongside cowboys, hunters, and Native peoples, and where every season tells a story.
