Multiple Downtown Businesses Hit in Weekend Burglary Spree

Several downtown Salina businesses reported burglaries over the weekend, all involving similar methods of entry. Investigators noted a consistent pattern in each incident: suspects pried open doors to gain access to the buildings.

One burglary occurred at 143 South Third Street, known as “the lodge,” where a cash box containing an undisclosed amount of money and a suitcase were taken.

Two additional break-ins were reported at 116 South Seventh Street. At Action Travel (116A), items were stolen, while the adjacent vacant storage space (116B) was also entered. No missing property has been confirmed from the storage space.

At 214 West Walnut, the Strand hair salon was found with its door forced open and interior damage. Confirmed stolen items include bottles of shampoo and conditioner, with the possibility of additional losses pending further inventory.

Because all incidents involved pried-open doors and targeted commercial locations in close proximity, investigators believe the cases may be connected. Authorities are actively reviewing reports of attempted burglaries that may be related.

Authorities are asking the public’s help on this. If anyone discovers additional damage—especially in the downtown area—they are encouraged to contact law enforcement so the incidents can be properly investigated.
