Electrical Fire Causes Damage to Rural Saline County Home on North Halstead Road
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office reported a residential fire on December 13 at approximately 10:42 p.m. in the 800 block of North Halstead Road in rural Saline County.
According to authorities, the residence was undergoing renovations when occupants experienced a power outage and noticed unusual odors. Further investigation revealed a tripped fuse and a red-hot wire that ignited a fire in the upper portion of the attic. The occupants evacuated the home immediately.
Emergency responders from Rural Fire Districts Three and Seven, along with medics, responded to the scene and contained the fire. The homeowner estimated approximately $5,000 in damage, primarily to the attic area, with additional smoke damage and some fire damage above the ceiling.
Five occupants were associated with the residence, including a 24-year-old female, a 25-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, a 19-year-old female, and a 50-year-old male. No injuries to people or animals were reported. The occupants relocated to a nearby residence following the incident.
Authorities stated the fire was confined to the upper portion of the structure. Due to fire and smoke damage, the home is currently considered uninhabitable. The incident remains under review.
