Saline County Advises Residents to Check Burn Piles Ahead of Strong Winds

Saline County officials are urging residents to check their brush piles for potential fire hazards as strong winds are forecast for later today.

According to a notice from Saline County, winds may stir up old embers in burn piles, even in fires that were believed to be extinguished. Officials warn that fires can remain hidden under ash and reignite during windy conditions.

Residents are advised to inspect any burn piles from the past week. If smoke or heat is detected, the county recommends extinguishing it completely to prevent fires from spreading.
