Police Investigating Robbery at South Ohio Mexican Store
Salina police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Mexican store in the 1900 block of South Ohio on the afternoon of the 21st.
According to officials, the robbery occurred at approximately 4 p.m. at 1917 South Ohio. Four suspects — described as two males and two females — entered the business. Police said three of the individuals distracted store employees, while a fourth suspect, a female, went behind the counter and took a money bag containing more than $10,000 in cash.
After the theft, the suspects fled the scene in a gray Honda van believed to have out-of-state license plates, possibly from Virginia. Investigators indicated the suspects are not believed to be local.
Police said all four suspects were wearing black face masks or face coverings, which has made identification difficult. The suspects reportedly did not speak during the robbery, and their ethnicity could not be determined. Three employees were present inside the store at the time and were distracted during the incident. No injuries were reported.
Investigators are continuing to review surveillance footage from the business and are working to trace the vehicle involved in the robbery. The investigation remains ongoing.
