BREAKING: Salina BSL Vote Fails, Breed-Specific Law Remains in Effect
Unofficial election results show Salina’s proposed ordinance related to the city’s Breed-Specific Legislation (BSL) did not pass on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.
The ballot question failed 5,329 “No” to 4,123 “Yes,” according to an unofficial results report for the City of Salina.

With the measure failing, Salina’s current BSL remains in effect.
Reaction from Salinans Against BSL
Tyler Colt Sartain, an organizer with Salinans Against BSL, posted a message following the results:
“I’m sad to say we failed in the vote. Keep your dogs safe and secure it looks like those who chose fear and government control won this one. More innocent dogs are now more vulnerable than ever.”
