Carla Sue (Blaske) Knight, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away at home on March 5, 2026.

She was born on September 22, 1938, the fourth child of Edward and Tillie (Bonin) Blaske, on a rural farm south of Waterville, Kansas. Later, the road was named “Down Yonder Road,” which she got such a kick out of.

Her parents moved many times during her early childhood. She attended school in Olsburg, KS; Cleburne, KS; Salina Country School west of Salina, KS; Blue Rapids Country School; Irving, KS; and then Salina, KS, in the eighth grade. She graduated from Salina High School in 1956.

Carla was very active in music starting in the first grade. She had the lead in Trial by Jury during her sophomore year, which she was very proud of. She also belonged to the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church during high school. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Carla worked at the Strand Theatre during the summers, and after graduating she worked at Air Conditioning Supply.

On October 27, 1957, Carla married Rene H. “Skip” Knight. She became the mother of four sons and was a full-time homemaker for thirty years. During her time as a homemaker, she was also a room mother many times at Grace E. Stewart Elementary School and a Cub Scout den mother for her sons.

After her sons were grown, she worked as a sales consultant at Vernon Jewelers for 20 years, until her heart operation in 2004. She was also diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1997. After her operation, she returned to being a full-time homemaker, which was her greatest joy.

She loved gardening, sewing, canning, and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Blaske and Matilda “Tillie” (Bonin) Blaske; her in-laws, Adda Knight and Olin Knight along with his second wife Oleta Knight; her son, Bradley Knight; her sisters, Donna (Blaske) Fritzson and brother in law Harold Fritzson and Phyllis (Blaske) Powell; and her brother-in-law, Ira Powell; her brothers, Veryl Blaske, Gene Blaske, and an infant baby brother.

She is survived by her husband, Rene “Skip” Knight; her sons, Ronald (René) Knight, Brian Knight, and Daniel (Lisa) Knight; her grandsons, Bradley (Aimee) Knight, Craig (Tricia) Knight, and Chase (Rylie) Knight; her granddaughter, Danielle (Zachary) Kinsey; and her great-grandchildren, Logan Knight, Liam Knight, Leonidas Knight, Lochlan Knight, Haven Knight, Elizabeth Knight, Brantley Knight, Tucker Knight, Caden Kinsey, Macie Kinsey, and Jace Kinsey.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S 9th St, Salina, KS. A luncheon will follow the service.

Burial will follow the luncheon at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E Crawford St, Salina, KS.

Joseph “Joe” Allen Armstrong , 85, passed away March 5, 2026, at Hilltop Nursing Home in Beloit, Kansas. He was born April 25, 1940, in Hedville, Kansas, to Bob and Ruth (Mortimer) Armstrong. On May 3, 1959, at just 19 years old, he married the love of his life, Veta Base.

After graduating from Brookville High School, Joe followed his lifelong love of the land and cattle. A lifelong resident of Hedville, he raised his family while continuing the Armstrong family farm. He proudly farmed alongside his son and grandson until 2025. You could often find him in a piece of equipment or at the shop, always ready to welcome anyone for a good conversation.

Joe was an avid reader who enjoyed hunting, watching K-State football, cheering for the Kansas City Royals, and playing a good game of cards. However, his greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He even got the joy of meeting his great great-granddaughter.

He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Veta, of the home; daughter Rhonda (Gary) Bacon of Barnard; son J.W. (Lisa) Armstrong of Brookville; grandchildren Jami (Darin) Simmons, Kate (Kashayla) Armstrong, Cody (Kaylene) Bacon, and Ross (Erin) Armstrong; great-grandchildren Mallorie, Madison, Jayce, Rylan, Kayah, Cordell, Canter, Allison, Eloise, and Paisley; and great-great-granddaughter Haegen. He is also survived by his siblings Robert Armstrong and Charlene Walker.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Mary Laas, Jennie Shaver-George, Elaine Bacon, Shirley Clanton, Betty Harden, Fern Bledsoe, and Kay Lebert; and his grandchild Jessica Armstrong.

Visitation, where family will receive guests, will be held Sunday, March 8, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, KS.
