It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Kevin Robert Gustavson, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, on March 6, 2026. Born on February 9, 1955, in San Diego, California, Kevin lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends.
Kevin was the beloved son of the late Carl and Natalie Gustavson. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Maryanne Gustavson, his brother, Mike, and both of his parents. Maryanne was the final love of his life, and together they shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2024. Kevin was also the ex-husband of Kim Gustavson, the mother of his three children, and together they built a strong family foundation.
Kevin's legacy lives on through his children, Gina Turner, Bryan Gustavson, and Travis Gustavson, who, along with their families, carry forward his spirit of kindness and resilience. Gina is blessed with three children, Dillian, Ryan, and Brody, and one grandson Grayson. Bryan, alongside his wife Chelsea, have three sons, Gavin, Ryder, and Deegan, while Travis and his wife Casey have four children, Kylie, Cade, Connor, and Chase.
Kevin is also survived by his sister, Kathy Ratcliff, her son Jesse Ratcliff, and Jesse's children, as well as his niece, Vanessa Gustavson. His extended family includes Maryanne's relatives and many dear friends who were like family to him.
In his professional life, Kevin was a dedicated craftsman who spent his career in construction, building movie sets. His passion for creating beautiful and functional spaces was evident in every project he undertook. Kevin's work ethic and attention to detail were admired by all who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Kevin loved his dogs, always finding joy in their companionship. He had a passion for woodworking, creating intricate pieces that reflected his artistic spirit. A nurturing soul, he also found peace tending to his plants, which flourished under his care.
Kevin will be remembered as a great man, known for his firm yet gentle nature. His kind smile and gentle eyes were a source of comfort and warmth to everyone he encountered. Always willing to help, Kevin was the type of person who would drop everything to be there for those in need.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have been a part of Kevin's life and journey. Your love and support have meant the world to us during this difficult time. As Kevin embarks on his next journey, we carry his love and lessons with us, forever grateful for the time we shared.
A memorial service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held at a later date. Kevin Robert Gustavson will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
