FBI Warns of Phishing Emails Impersonating Local Government Officials
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is warning the public about a phishing scheme in which criminals impersonate city and county officials in emails related to planning and zoning permits, according to a notice shared by Saline County.
The FBI issued a public service announcement detailing the scheme, which is available on the agency's Internet Crime Complaint Center website at www.ic3.gov/PSA/2026/PSA260309.
Residents who believe they have been targeted by such a scheme can file a report through the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.
