Ericka Cain has taught at South High School for 29 years. As an adaptive special education teacher, she works with students who have a wide range of learning and behavioral needs, building individualized learning experiences designed to support growth and recognize each student’s strengths.

According to the district, Cain focuses on individualized instruction, collaboration, and consistent support. She also works closely with colleagues to help students develop skills and confidence for life after high school.

Cain holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Kansas Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in Special Education from Kansas State University.

In addition to her classroom role, Cain has served as Special Education Department Chair since 2004, is a member of the Building Leadership Team, and mentors both new and student teachers.

District officials described Cain as passionate, dedicated, and deeply rooted in the Salina community.

The recognition highlights the role both educators play in supporting students and helping shape school communities across Salina Public Schools.
