Janelle Stelter named Elementary Teacher of the Year

Janelle Stelter is in her fifth year at Coronado Elementary School and has taught in Salina Public Schools since 2017. She serves students in a multi-grade resource room for kindergarten through fifth grade, providing instruction in math, English language arts, social studies, science, and social-emotional learning.

District officials said Stelter has extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. Her work includes developing and implementing individualized education plans, collaborating with families and colleagues, and creating structured classroom environments that promote growth, empathy, and independence.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University and a Master of Science in Special Education from Baker University.

Salina Public Schools said Stelter is known for creating a classroom where students feel safe, included, and ready to learn.
