Obituary for Robert "Rob" Pengra

November 18, 1963 - March 16, 2026

Obituary for Robert "Rob" Pengra

Robert (Rob) Pengra, 62, passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2026, at his home.

Rob was born to Carol and Robert Pengra in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He graduated from Salina South High in 1982 and had been a resident of Salina since, with the exception of his service in the United States Navy. Rob had a 25-year career with the Salina Fire Department EMS, retiring in 2014. Following his retirement he proudly led several mission trips while working for Emmanuel Foursquare Church. He most recently had been working at Webster Conference Center in Salina.

Rob was a gifted sawyer, craftsman, and builder, using the talents God gave him to create things that would last. He built the log home where he raised his family. What began as a tree, in his care, would often turn into a treasured piece of furniture.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim; his first wife, Christine; and his son, Joel, who went before him to Heaven.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 years, Angie; his daughter, Alyssa Pengra; sons and daughters-in-law, Jordan and Maria Pengra, Jacob and Megan Pengra; grandchildren, Shailyn, Mason, Lilah, Ava, Kole, and Olivia; sisters, Sue Collins and Cathy Pickering; and many other family members and friends.

Rob was a devoted Christian whose daily life revolved around his faith. One of his favorite quotes was “Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.” After the passing of Joel three years ago, Rob found comfort in Micah 6:8 as a description of Joel’s character, but the same words could also easily describe Rob. To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. He is already deeply missed.

There will be visitation Wednesday, March 25th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina, KS. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 26th 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Foursquare Church, 1325 E. Cloud St., Salina, KS.

Memorials can be made to the family in care of the mortuary or to your favorite charity.

Michael Earl Poole Obituary March 17, 2026 - Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home & Crematory

Mr. Michael Earl Poole, 63, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

He was born on November 6, 1962 in Los Banos, California to Mr. Bennie Lee Poole and Dorothy Mae (Cheek) Poole.

Michael spent his early life in Flint, Michigan where he attended Flint Community Schools but spent the majority of his adult life in Salina. For many years, he worked as an electrician.

Michael enjoyed spending time with friends and watching sports. He also loved westerns, singing, and cooking. Known for his sense of humor, Michael thought of himself as a comedian and often laughed harder than anyone else at his own jokes. Pinto beans and cornbread were his favorite meal—enjoyed so much that he ate them nearly every day. Michael also had a special place in his heart for his beloved fur baby, Winnie.

Left to cherish his memories is his longtime devoted and special lady, Sonya Allen; and children: Chelsea Flowers of Kansas City, Missouri, Tierra Drake (Bryan) of Wichita, Kansas, and Mr. Torrance Gilbert of Dallas, Texas.

Brothers: Bennie Poole (Cynthia) of Mansfield, Texas, Kenneth Poole (Shan) of Desoto, Texas, Gary Poole (Jenny) of Meridian, Mississippi; and three sisters: Shirley Galloway of Salina, Kansas, Barbara Poole-Brown, and Janet Poole-Little (John) of Flint, Michigan.

He is also survived by grandchildren: SaRayah, Darius, and SaNiyah Gilbert, Charlotte and Charlise Bullock, and Olivia and Jasmine Gilbert.

Special thanks to: Angela and Tasha Brown, Tierra and Bryan Drake, Pastor Allen and the St. John Baptist Church family, and the 3 South nurses and doctors at Salina Regional Health Center for their care and compassion.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.
