Salina Police Warn Against Pocket Bikes, Mini Bikes on City Streets

The Salina Police Department has issued a public notice regarding the use of pocket bikes and mini bikes on city streets and sidewalks. The department said it has received multiple reports of the vehicles being operated in public areas, where they are not legally permitted. Under current regulations, pocket bikes and mini bikes may only be operated on private property.

According to police, several near-miss incidents have occurred involving riders entering roadways or crossing from sidewalks into traffic. The department noted that riders on these smaller vehicles are often not easily visible to drivers, increasing the risk of injury.

With warmer weather and summer approaching, the Salina Police Department is urging parents and guardians to ensure children use pocket bikes and mini bikes only on private property and with the property owner's permission. Residents with questions are asked to contact the department directly.
