Salina police officer injured in crash; KHP investigating
A Salina Police Department officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a Sunday night crash in Saline County, and the Kansas Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, the wreck happened at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday at College Avenue and Spruce Street. The crash involved a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500, a 2024 Ford Explorer driven by Salina Police Officer Mathew K. Pfannenstiel, 30, of Salina, and a 2017 Ram 4 driven by Paradise K. Roberts, 30, of Snellville, Georgia.
The Highway Patrol reported that Sean S. Schuff, 39, of Salina, was northbound on College Avenue and turning left onto Spruce Street when he failed to yield to the police SUV. The Explorer and pickup collided, and during the crash a tire came off the pickup and struck the third vehicle.
Pfannenstiel was taken to Salina Regional Medical Center with what the Highway Patrol described as a suspected minor injury. Reports indicate the officer’s injuries were not life-threatening. No additional details had been released at the time of reporting.
