Games, Music and Patriotic Fun: Salina’s Playday in the Park Honors America’s 250th Birthday
Salina Parks and Recreation is bringing back another summertime tradition that gives families one more reason to enjoy living in Salina. The department shared details with Salina311 this week on the return of Playday in the Park, a free community celebration set for Friday, July 3, at Oakdale Park.
The annual event is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will offer an afternoon of family-friendly fun ahead of the Fourth of July.
According to Salina Parks and Recreation, this year’s Playday in the Park will include multiple game stations, sidewalk chalk, yard games, face painting, a foam machine, and more. The event will also feature the Salina Municipal Band, helping create the kind of festive, hometown atmosphere that has long made the event a favorite for local families.
A limited supply of free food and drinks will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Playday in the Park is one of those simple but meaningful community events that reminds people what makes Salina special. It brings neighbors together, gives kids a chance to play, and offers families a free way to celebrate the holiday weekend in one of the city’s best public spaces.
For many residents, it is another example of the kind of local tradition that continues to make Salina more than just a place to live. It is a place where community still matters, where families can show up, spread out in the park, and enjoy an evening of music, games, and summer fun together.
