Obituary for Rosalie “Rose” (Wright) Vosburg
May 6, 1941 - April 8, 2026

Rosalie “Rose” (Wright) Vosburg , of Salina, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026, surrounded by her family at Salina Regional Hospital.
She was born in Miltonvale, Kansas, to Charles E. and “Jane” F. (Owen) Wright on May 6, 1941. She graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School and went on to attend St. Joseph School of X-Ray Technology in Concordia, Kansas.
Rose began her career as a registered x-ray technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She later continued her work at St. John’s Hospital in Salina. Rose furthered her education by earning a certificate in Radiation Therapy from Washburn University School of Allied Health. She worked in Radiation Oncology at St. John’s Hospital. Although she retired, she later returned to work, staying active and engaging in the field she loved at Mowery Clinic.
She was a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technology with certification in Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, and Mammography. She was a member of Smoky Valley Genealogical Society, the Daughters of American Revolution - Nathan Edson Chapter, American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She was a former Girl School Leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all 8 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Gerald; her sons, David Vosburg of Salina and Kent (Paula) Vosburg of Junction City; and her daughter, Kathy (Mitch) Benton of Junction City. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Josh, Jared, Nathan, and Olivia.
Rose took great pride in her family’s accomplishments, especially celebrating two of her grandsons who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. She especially cherished time spent with her family, whether gathered around the table playing cards or simply enjoying each other’s company baking in the kitchen. Her hobbies included genealogy, Kansas University basketball, Royals baseball, and traveling to all 50 states and several countries.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18th at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th Street, Salina, Kansas.
In honor of Rose’s love for her favorite teams, the family kindly requests that visitors wear attire representing the Royals, Jayhawks, or Chiefs.
In recognition of Rose’s love of reading, memorials may be given to Kansas State Library Talking Book Services, 1 Kellogg Circle Box 4055, Emporia, KS 66801. The library provides free library services to those with blindness, vision loss, or physical disabilities.

Obituary for Arthur "Art" R. Petty Jr.
January 14, 1940 - April 8, 2026

Arthur "Art" R. Petty Jr. , 86, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2026, at his home of 62 years, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 14, 1940, in Abilene, Kansas.
He married the love of his life, Beverly J. Fletcher, on March 9, 1963, in Salina. They shared 63 years devoted to each other, their family, and their faith.
They were blessed with three children: Douglas R. Petty; David A. Petty-Smith (Mark); and Debra J. Petty. Arthur was a proud grandfather to Annalise Butler (Tim), Devin Petty, and Morgan Unruh (Derik), and a great-grandfather to Jacob Davis, Abigail Davis, Alexander Butler, Rowan Unruh, and Aspen Unruh.
Arthur attended Salina High School, where he excelled in athletics, graduating in 1959. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962 aboard the USS Intrepid in the Mediterranean. He worked for Holsum Bakery and National Life Insurance Company before joining Beech Aircraft Corporation, where he retired after 34 years.
Arthur played an active and passionate role in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—as a coach, scout leader, youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, role model, and mentor. He impacted countless young people throughout his life.
Art was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served in many leadership roles, including Missions, United Methodist Men, and as a teacher.
In addition to his family, he will be missed by countless friends and all who knew him. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, love of life, courage, devotion, strength, and deep love for the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna M. Petty, and five sisters: Naomi, Valdene, Joyce, Marion, and Barbara.
Visitation will be held at Ryan Mortuary in Salina on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Salina at 10:00 a.m, Tuesday April 14, 2026. A private family burial will take place at New Basel Cemetery in rural Dickinson County.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

Obituary for Richard Wayne Carpenter
February 8, 1930 - April 9, 2026

Richard Wayne Carpenter , 96, of Salina died April 9, 2026 at Homestead Memory Care of Abilene. He was born February 8, 1930 in Emporia, KS, to Earnest and Rose (LaLoge) Carpenter, the tenth of their eleven children.
Dick, as he preferred to be called, grew up in Cottonwood Falls, KS, and graduated from Chase County High School in 1948. Following graduation, he worked as a farm hand in Del Norte, Colorado, before joining the Army in 1951 and serving with a construction battalion in South Korea.
On January 1, 1954, he married Frances LaVonne Christlieb. They were married for 58 years until her death in May of 2012.
Dick worked for several Safeway grocery stores throughout south-central Kansas before joining the one in Salina in 1966. He retired in 1988 when it closed; he then went to work part-time for the Buyers Guide in Salina until 2016.
Dick was an avid sportsman; he thrived on competition. For decades, he was a familiar face on Salina’s Municipal Golf course and qualified for Nationals in horseshoes with the Senior Olympics. He loved playing cards, dominoes, and Rummikub with family and friends. He was a talented woodworker, selling his creations for many years at Salina’s See-n-Sell each November. He enjoyed writing short stories and poems, and spending time with his cat, Happy.
Dick is survived by his children, Joy Owens (Bruce) of Berryton, KS, Gay Amon (Max) of Camdenton, MO, Alan Carpenter (Katrinka) of Salina, KS, and Curtis Carpenter (Carrie), of Gulfport, MS. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Paul Gebhardt (Renee) of Salina, Kamra Gebhardt of Gladstone, MO, Nick Amon of Berryton, KS, Serena Kennedy (Brandon) of Baldwin City, KS, Sierra Amon (Nate Kern) of Lawrence, KS, Tosha Ince (Joe) of Ackley, IA, Tron Carpenter (Sabrina) of Falun, KS, Emily Carpenter of Tulsa, OK, and David Carpenter (Molly Kaup) of Lawrence, KS; and three great-grandchildren, Quinton Ince, and Kinsey and Addy Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife Frances Carpenter; parents Ernest and Rose Carpenter; sisters Ruth Watchous, Alice Redick, M. Marie Adamson, Hazel Everett, and Lillian Davis; brothers Henry Carpenter, Kenneth Carpenter, Arnold Carpenter, Melvin “Bill” Carpenter, and Neal Carpenter, and one grandson, Sean Amon.
