In 1983, Nelda returned to school at Brown Mackie College, earning a degree in Office Administration. She then reentered the workforce full-time while raising her daughters and concluded her career at St. Francis Ministries as an accounts payable clerk.

Huerta (Juan) and Pamela Haas (Mike); her grandchildren, Jessica Huerta Kampfe (Brendan), Alexander Cruzpagan, Vanessa Cruzpagan, Jennifer Huerta-Frakes (Kyle), and Zach Webb; and her great-grandchildren, Brecklyn, Isaiah, Eli, Alayna, Alexis, Khali, and Leo. She is also survived by nephews Clint and Scott Livingston, along with other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Livingston; her sister, Linda (Livingston) Fecteau (Ron); and her nephew, Paul Fecteau.
