Southeast of Saline head football coach Mitch Gebhardt has confirmed that he plans to resign from both coaching and teaching at the end of the current school year, according to an official statement shared Monday.

Gebhardt led the SES Trojan football program for 16 seasons and finished with a 129-40 overall record, a 22-11 playoff record, and a 2A state championship in 2024.

In his statement, Gebhardt said, “At the end of the current school year I am resigning from my position at Southeast of Saline.”

He also reflected on his time with the district and the program.

“Coaching and teaching at Southeast of Saline have been the greatest honors of my career. I have had the privilege of working with outstanding students and athletes who wanted to work, learn, and grow,” Gebhardt said.

Gebhardt thanked those connected to the program over the years, saying, “I want to thank the players I coached, coaches I coached with, parents, teachers, administration, and all others that supported our program over the years. It has been a rewarding 16 years. I am proud of what we have accomplished over the years, and look forward to the next chapter of its success.”

He closed the statement by saying, “Thank you for the opportunity to lead the Southeast of Saline Trojans.”
