Obituary for Stephen "Steve" Aksamit
April 13, 1950 - April 21, 2026

Stephen "Steve" Aksamit , 76, of Bennington, KS, was called home by Our Loving Father on Tuesday April 21, 2026, in Wichita, KS, with his loving wife of 45 years by his side.
Steve was born in Lucas, KS, on April 13, 1950. He attended Lucas High School and graduated in 1968. In March of 1980, Steve met Debbie Blaha, and by May of that year the two were engaged. They were married on August 16, 1980, in Salina, KS. Steve was well known around the Bennington/Salina area as the ‘Heating & Air Guy’. He loved owning his own business “S & D Heating and Air Conditioning”, but his true passion was his granddaughter Addison who was born in 2018. The moment Steve held Addison, that girl was his whole world. He would do anything and everything for his little “Angel Toot”. Steve would have the biggest smile on his face when he would talk with or see Addison.
You could see Steve messing around on his tractors or spending time with Addison. He also loved his Harley and enjoyed his bike rides with his “Sonny” Matt. He was also an avid K-State sports fan, and he would always have a game on. He also loved his daughter-in-law and would have to give her a hard time whenever he saw her. Steve was truly loved by his family, and he will be greatly missed.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Elicia Aksamit; his ‘darling sweetheart’ granddaughter, Addison Aksamit; his sister, Irma Benda; brother-in-laws, Danny Blaha and Mark (Beverly) Blaha; sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Towler; cousin, Marilyn Kirkendall and family; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Albina (Kroboth) Aksamit; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Donna Blaha; his son, Andrew Philip; his brother-in-law, Daryn Blaha; and his sister-in-law, Julie Blaha.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St. Salina, KS. The Funeral will be at 10 am Friday, April 24, 2026, also at Ryan Mortuary followed by a burial at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, 2020 E Iron Ave. Salina, KS.
Memorials may be made to Salina Shares or the Salina Rescue Mission in care of Ryan Mortuary.
