Golf Ball-Sized Hail Pounds Salina Overnight in Severe Storms
Golf ball-sized hail pounded Salina overnight as severe storms swept through Saline County.
The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a warning at 12:14 a.m. Monday morning: "Dangerous storm will impact the Salina area between 12:30 and 1 am. Hail larger than golf balls is expected with this storm!"
Residents shared numerous photos on social media showing hailstones ranging from dime-sized to potentially tennis ball-sized, though most reports confirmed golf ball-sized hail.
The storm was part of a series of severe weather systems that moved through Kansas over the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, Salina received 1.14 inches of rain from Sunday into Monday morning.
