The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a warning at 12:14 a.m. Monday morning: "Dangerous storm will impact the Salina area between 12:30 and 1 am. Hail larger than golf balls is expected with this storm!"

Residents shared numerous photos on social media showing hailstones ranging from dime-sized to potentially tennis ball-sized, though most reports confirmed golf ball-sized hail.
