Saline County Tag Office Issues Guidance for Hail-Damaged Vehicle Owners
The Saline County Tag Office in Salina has released information for residents whose vehicles have been declared a total loss due to hail damage. The office is advising affected vehicle owners who intend to retain ownership of their totaled vehicles to obtain official documentation from their insurance companies confirming that the total loss was caused exclusively by hail damage.
Residents are asked to bring the insurance documentation to the County Tag Office, which will then submit the paperwork to the State of Kansas on the vehicle owner's behalf. According to the office, this process is necessary to prevent vehicle registration suspensions or to remove any suspensions that may have already been applied.
The Tag Office noted that the State of Kansas does not require a rebuilt salvage title for vehicles that were totaled solely as a result of hail damage. Residents with questions are directed to contact the Saline County Tag Office for further assistance.
