Sara Marie Thomas

March 10, 1969 — April 25, 2026

Sara Marie Thomas, 57, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 25th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Sara was born in Salina, Kansas on March 10, 1969, to Katherlean (Outland) Jones and Willie Thomas, Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Amika Thomas, of Salina, Kansas; a son, Leon Thomas, of Salina, Kansas; four brothers, Willie Thomas Jr. (Marcia), of Valley Center, Kansas; Larry Thomas (Arlene), of Wichita, Kansas; Roger Thomas, of Salina, Kansas; Vernon Thomas, of Salina, Kansas; three sisters, Viola "Lorraine" Chatt, of Salina, Kansas; Michelle Hulum (Cornelius), of Wichita, Kansas; Angilique Outland, of San Antonio, Texas; and her partner, Samuel Patton, of Salina, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas.

The family will have a private service.

The family requests donations be made to the Salina Animal Shelter, 329 N. 2nd, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Melody Carol Monasmith

March 5, 1943 — April 25, 2026

Melody Carol Showman Monasmith age 83 of Salina, Kansas passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Chambers Memorial Hospital after a year long illness.

Melody was born March 5, 1943 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to her mother Allenay Showman who died when Melody was a month old. She was then adopted by her grandparents, Samuel and Vera Doughty Showman.

Melody raised her children by playing music as a bass player in various country bands and as a cook. She later got her CDL and did over the road driving and they settled down in Salina becoming a school bus driver of 32 years.

She was a member of the Crossroads Church in Salina, Kansas, Christian Motor Cycle Association, for 16 years, and served as Chaplain of the Association for 1 year. She loved Jesus more than anything and showed it in how she loved others. As a member of the Church she discipled many people.

She was preceded in death by her birth mother, Allenay Showman; parents, Samuel and Vera Showman; sister, Ruth Harvey; brother, Wilfred Siedel; son-in-law, Michael Waggoner; great-grandson, Judah Whitmer.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Monasmith; her children, Vera Waggoner, Leslie Waggoner III (Victoria), Ruth Waggoner (Mark), Gail Staples (Jay), David Waggoner, Tonya Noll (Steve), Michael Monasmith Jr (Carole), Kelly Quinton (Todd); 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Danville Cornwell Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at Crossroads Church in Salina, Kansas.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Crossroads Church in Salina, Kansas. Burial will be at Poheta Cemetery in Kipp, Kansas.
