Salina Police SWAT Team Receives State Valor Award

The Salina Police Department's SWAT Team received a Silver Unit Citation Valor Award at the annual Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police Valor Awards Banquet on May 6.

The award was given in recognition of the team's actions during a hostage rescue incident in February 2025. According to the KACP, the Silver Valor Award is granted for actions that directly contribute to the significant prolonging or saving of a life.

The banquet is held annually by the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police to recognize law enforcement personnel across the state.
