Police Response Follows Vehicle Chase in Salina; Witness Reports Hearing Several Shots
UPDATE from Salina Police Department: On Monday, May 11, 2026, 4:55 PM, Officers of the Salina Police Department attempted to stop a subject and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, the suspect attempted to hit a Saline County Deputy. When the pursuit ended, the suspect began firing at officers. The officers returned fire and the suspect was shot. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was contacted and are currently investigating the incident. Any further inquiries in reference to the incident should be made with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Ben Hobbs told Salina311 he heard what sounded like “6 shots” during the incident.
Multiple law enforcement vehicles were seen involved as the situation unfolded. Salina311 has confirmed that the Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the incident as an officer-involved shooting.
