Possible Mountain Lion Captured on Trail Camera in Saline County

A Saline County property owner has reported a possible mountain lion sighting after a trail camera captured an image on the back side of a property on East Shipton Road.

The animal on the left side of the photo is believed by the property owner to be a mountain lion. However, the sighting has not yet been confirmed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

According to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, mountain lions have been confirmed in multiple Kansas counties, including Saline County.

KDWP says mountain lions in Kansas are generally elusive and tend to avoid people. The agency encourages residents who believe they have seen a mountain lion to report the sighting, especially if they have photos, tracks, scat, hair, or other evidence that can help wildlife officials review the report.
