Ryan Noonan, AMC Public Relations SVP, Details Decision to Permanently Close Salina 10

AMC Theatres has confirmed directly to Salina311 that AMC Salina 10 at Central Mall has permanently ceased operations following major damage from the severe storms that moved through Salina in April.

Ryan Noonan, Senior Vice President of Public Relations at AMC Theatres, provided the statement to Salina311, confirming the company’s decision.

“During the severe storms in April, the roof above AMC Salina 10 experienced significant failure, resulting in extensive water intrusion and major damage throughout multiple areas of the theatre,” Noonan said.

According to Noonan, AMC evaluated the damage and discussed the situation with the property owner before deciding not to renew the theater’s lease.

“After evaluation and discussion with the property owner, AMC made the difficult decision to not renew its lease, which ends this month, and has permanently ceased operations at AMC Salina 10,” Noonan said.

The statement confirms weeks of uncertainty surrounding the future of the theater, which had remained closed following storm damage at Central Mall.

Noonan also thanked local moviegoers for their years of support.

“We are grateful to our Salina-area guests for their years of support and for allowing us to be part of so many memorable moviegoing experiences,” Noonan said.

The closure marks the end of AMC’s presence at Central Mall and leaves Salina without the theater that had long operated as one of the mall’s major entertainment anchors.
