Local YMCA Encourages Families to Get “SwimReady” Before Summer

With summer approaching and families preparing for time at pools, lakes and other water recreation areas, the Salina Family YMCA is encouraging parents to think ahead about water safety.

The YMCA currently has openings in its summer swim lesson programs, offering families an opportunity to build confidence and basic water safety skills before the busiest part of the season begins.

The program includes both morning and evening class options, allowing families with different schedules to participate.

According to YMCA staff, early preparation can play an important role in helping reduce water-related accidents. Swim lessons focus not only on swimming technique, but also on safety habits that children can carry with them during summer activities.

“Every year, we see families rushing to enroll once the weather warms up,” YMCA representatives said. “But the best time to start is now. Getting swim-ready before summer allows swimmers to enter the season with confidence.”

The YMCA’s swim lesson program serves a range of ages and skill levels, from beginners becoming comfortable in the water to more advanced swimmers working to improve their strokes. Certified instructors lead the sessions, with an emphasis on safety, skill development and positive experiences in the water.

Families interested in enrolling can learn more through the Salina Family YMCA.
