Central Mall Shows Renewed Water Damage After May 17-18 Rainfall

Central Mall in Salina is again showing visible signs of water damage following rainfall over May 17 and 18.

Large portions of the mall interior had previously been cleaned and dried out after earlier storm-related water intrusion. However, after the latest rainfall, water damage is once again visible inside parts of the building.

Standing water could be seen in areas of the mall, along with debris on the interior floor and material hanging from portions of the ceiling. The renewed damage indicates that water continues to enter the building despite cleanup efforts that had already taken place.

The mall sustained significant damage during severe weather in April, when heavy rain and hail caused water intrusion in multiple areas. Since then, cleanup crews have worked to dry and clear large sections of the property.

The latest rainfall appears to have reopened concerns about the condition of the roof and interior spaces. While parts of the mall had appeared to be improving after the initial cleanup, the renewed water damage shows the issue has not been fully resolved.
