Aero Plains Homes Says No Homes Flooded as City Addresses Drainage Issue

Update: The city had the drains cleared by 11 pm May 28th after three inches of rain fell. 

Aero Plains experienced street flooding following the recent heavy rainfall, but the issue has since been cleared.

According to an update provided to Salina311, debris is believed to be one possible factor, though crews were initially unable to fully inspect the drainage ditch because conditions remained too wet to safely access the bank.

Smoky Hill Construction, the company that built the infrastructure, was on site early, working to clear the area. Jason Johnson, an engineer with Campbell Johnson, who engineered the project, was also on site reviewing the situation.

Crews indicated it may take until Monday for the drainage ditch area to dry enough for a full inspection and any remaining clearing work.

No water reached the homes, and the street flooding has now been cleared.

Aero Plains Homes is aware of a water issue affecting a neighborhood street and wants to reassure residents and the public that no homes have flooded.

Water did not reach the homes, and residents are still able to get in and out of the neighborhood. The issue appears to be limited to street-level water, and city officials are actively addressing the situation.

The City is placing a pump in the area and believes one of the drains may be clogged. Crews are working to resolve the issue and restore normal drainage as quickly as possible.

Aero Plains Homes will continue monitoring the situation and appreciates the City’s quick response.

At this time, the issue is being handled and does not appear to pose a threat to homes in the neighborhood.
