Democrat Files to Challenge Clarke Sanders in House District 69 Race
The 2026 race for Kansas House District 69 is beginning to take shape as the candidate filing deadline approaches.
According to the latest publicly available Saline County candidate filing list, Republican incumbent Clarke Sanders and Democrat Miranda Bachman are listed for Kansas House District 69. The county filing list is marked unofficial and was updated May 29.
Sanders currently represents Kansas House District 69, which includes part of Salina and portions of Saline County. According to the Kansas Legislature, Sanders is a Republican and has served in the Kansas House since 2021.
The publicly available Saline County filing list also shows Bachman, a Democrat from Salina, listed in the District 69 race.
The Kansas Secretary of State’s Office says candidates for national, state, legislative, and judicial offices must file their candidacy with the Secretary of State. A candidate is not considered filed until the declaration or petition and fee are received by the Secretary of State.
The filing deadline for the 2026 primary election is noon Monday, June 1.
Kansas House District 69 is located in Saline County and includes Assaria, Bavaria, Bridgeport, Brookville, Falun, Gypsum, part of Kipp, Mentor, part of Salina, and Smolan, according to the official district map.
The Kansas primary election is scheduled for August 4, 2026. The general election is scheduled for November 3, 2026.
