Broadway Overlay, Wayne and Ohio Milling Work Set to Begin Monday in Salina
Road work on several Salina streets is scheduled to begin Monday, June 8, as part of the city's 2026 street maintenance program.
APAC Shears of Salina will place an asphalt overlay on Broadway Boulevard from Republic Avenue to 9th Street. The work is expected to continue throughout the week, weather permitting.
Also beginning Monday, crews will start milling operations on Wayne Avenue from Highland Avenue to 4th Street. Milling will then continue on Ohio Street from Cloud Street to Belmont Boulevard for the remainder of the week.
Traffic will be maintained through the work zones, but lane restrictions will vary by street. On multi-lane streets, one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open. On two-lane streets, including Wayne Avenue, traffic will be reduced to a single open lane.
Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to slow down and use caution while traveling through work zones.
Additional streets included in the project are:
- Clay Ridge Court
- Vortex Avenue, from Scanlan Avenue to Centennial Road
- Wall Street, from Centennial Road to the west cul-de-sac
- Schippel Drive, from Ohio Street to Lewis Street
- Fawn Street, from Cloud Street to Schippel Drive
- North 9th Street frontage roads north of Thomas Park
The work is part of the City of Salina's 2026 street maintenance capital improvement program, a $5.9 million effort to improve local streets.
