High Winds Overturn Semi on I-70, Injuring Driver

A semi driver was injured when high winds overturned a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 during storms on June 8, according to the Salina Police Department.

The crash happened on eastbound I-70 near milepost 254.

Police said the semi was driven by a 30-year-old man from Illinois. High winds caused the tractor-trailer to overturn and land on its side.

The driver sustained two broken legs below the knee, according to police. An ankle injury was also suspected, though not confirmed at the time of the report.

The driver was transported by Salina EMS. Police said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash was one of multiple crashes reported on I-70 during the storm event.
