Stove Explosion Causes Fire at South Ohio Street Home
A stove explosion caused a small residential fire Tuesday evening in Saline County, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Department.
Emergency crews were sent at about 5:26 p.m. to 5454 South Ohio Street for a report of a residential fire.
Deputies made contact with a 42-year-old homeowner, who said she had been cooking dinner when the stove exploded and caught fire.
Rural Fire District No. 2 was already on scene when deputies arrived and extinguished the fire.
According to sheriff, the fire was limited to the stove, which was believed to be destroyed. The homeowner told deputies the explosion pushed the stove away from the wall.
Firefighters inspected the ignition source and suspected the cause was a gas leak behind the stove. Investigators believe the gas leak caused the explosion and combustion.
No injuries were reported, and no damage to the home was reported beyond the stove.
