Salina-Area Singer Preparing for State Karaoke Competition

Kathleen Sings is preparing for another run at the state level of the Karaoke World Championships, with this year's competition set for July 11 at Speak Easy in Salina.

Kathleen recently placed fourth at regionals to qualify for the state competition. It will be her second time competing at that level.

Last year, Kathleen said she also finished fourth at state, ending just three points behind first place and one point short of advancing to nationals.

The upcoming competition gives local audiences a chance to follow a Salina-area performer as she looks to improve on last year's finish and make a push toward the national stage.

Alongside the competition, Kathleen is also working to add more local and regional performances. She is currently focused on booking shows at nursing homes, retirement homes, rest homes and smaller venues within about 65 miles of Salina and Abilene.

Her performances include songs from the 1950s forward, with sets tailored to fit the crowd and setting.
