Video Captures the Moment 113 MPH Winds Knock Out Power in Downtown Salina

Video recorded by Haley White captures the moment powerful straight-line winds reached downtown Salina Monday night and the city’s downtown lights suddenly went dark.

The National Weather Service recorded a peak wind gust of 113 mph near Salina during the storm, which caused widespread damage and knocked out electricity across the community.

Evergy and DS&O Electric crews continue working to restore power to remaining customers throughout Salina and the surrounding area.
