Tornado Watch Remains in Effect for Saline County Until 11 P.M.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Saline County and several other Kansas counties until 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Counties included in the watch are:
Atchison, Brown, Chase, Clay, Dickinson, Doniphan, Douglas, Ellsworth, Franklin, Geary, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Lincoln, Lyon, McPherson, Marion, Marshall, Miami, Morris, Nemaha, Osage, Ottawa, Pottawatomie, Rice, Riley, Saline, Shawnee, Wabaunsee and Wyandotte.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and near the watch area. Residents should stay weather aware and be prepared to move to shelter if a warning is issued.
Salina311 has also received reports of heavy rain, hail and strong winds in the area as storms continue moving through central Kansas.
Residents should keep phones charged, monitor weather alerts and be ready to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building if conditions worsen.
