Shirley "Shirl" Avis Carrier

Shirley (Shirl) Avis Carrier 94, of Abilene, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026. She was born March 30, 1932 on a farm in rural Tescott, Kansas to Ben and Cora (Dupes) Wilson.
Shirl worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years retiring in 1981. Shirl was a member of Emmanuel Church, Abilene, Kansas; VFW Life Member, and Telephone Pioneers.
Shirl was married to her loving husband, Ray Carrier for 43 years; he passed away August 22, 2010.
Survivors include daughter, Rita (Bob) Macy of Abilene and daughter-in-law, Margie Carrier (Randall, deceased) of Salina. Step-son Scott Carrier, address unknown. Grandsons Joseph (Kaysha) Macy, Mark (Kara) Macy, Jason (Clara) Carrier, Nathan (Lindsey) Carrier, Darren Vaupel. Great-grandsons - Nicolas Carrier, Benton Carrier, Beckett Carrier, Ethan Carrier, Jeremy (Amelia) Vaupel, Adam Vaupel. Great-granddaughters – Abby Vaupel, Norah Macy, Ava Macy and Daphne Macy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray Carrier, step-daughter Shawn Bartow, step-son Randall Carrier, sisters Gladys Wilson, Laura Skocz, Cora Wilson, Delia Hamm, Marie Poole and Alma Christenson; brothers Sidney Wilson and Averill Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas 67401, Pastor Marc Riegel officiating. A luncheon after the service will be held in the Friendship Room at Roselawn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Church in care of Heier Scott Mortuary and Cremations, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.
