Maurices Not Expected to Reopen Inside Salina Central Mall, Staff Say New Location Being Explored
Maurices is not expected to reopen inside Salina Central Mall following storm-related impacts to the property, according to staff who spoke with Salina311 from another area Maurices location.
Staff said the company is working through next steps for the Salina store and is looking at options to relocate elsewhere in Salina. According to staff, the likely direction is a strip mall-style location, though a new site has not yet been finalized.
The update comes after the Salina Maurices store posted a message to customers on Facebook saying the store remains closed and does not yet have a confirmed reopening date.
“We know many of you have been asking for updates, and we wanted to keep you informed,” the store posted. “At this time, our store remains closed, and we do not yet have a confirmed reopening date.”
The post also said recent weather has continued to affect the mall and that the store is working with those involved to determine what comes next.
“Recent weather has continued to impact the mall, and we are working closely with all parties involved to determine next steps and what reopening will look like,” the post stated.
While the Facebook post did not announce a permanent move or identify a future location, staff told Salina311 the store is not expected to reopen inside the mall and that relocation options are being explored.
The store said it is still eager to return to serving Salina customers and will provide additional updates through its Facebook page when more information becomes available.
“Please know that we are working hard behind the scenes and are just as eager to welcome you back into the store as you are to shop with us,” the store posted.
Maurices is one of several businesses affected by the storm damage and ongoing disruption at Central Mall. The potential move would mark another shift in Salina’s retail landscape as stores evaluate whether to remain inside the mall or look for space elsewhere in the city.
