Salina Man Arrested on Aggravated Battery Charge Following Reported Strangulation
A Salina man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly choking another man during a confrontation in north Salina.
According to the Salina Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:00 p.m. on June 28, 2026, to the 1900 block of North Fifth Street regarding a physical disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers encountered 53-year-old Phillip Ledesma of Salina. Police said Ledesma began yelling at officers and approached them. He was ordered to the ground and complied, allowing officers to take him into custody without further incident.
The victim, a 47-year-old Salina man, told officers that the incident had occurred in the parking lot of the Pilot Travel Center in the 1900 block of North Ninth Street.
According to the victim, Ledesma approached him seeking information about the whereabouts of an acquaintance. During the encounter, Ledesma allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and choked him.
The victim reported that he only knew Ledesma from living in close proximity to him and did not have a close relationship with him.
Salina EMS evaluated the victim at the scene.
Ledesma was transported to the Saline County Jail and booked on a requested charge of aggravated battery.
The investigation remains ongoing.
