Carl Edwin Morris , 81, of Salina passed away on July 6, 2026. Carl was born on November 14, 1944, in El Dorado, Kansas, to Francis Joseph Morris and Erma Collette (Ott) Morris. Carl graduated from Kipp High School. After high school Carl worked at Waynes Homes Basement for 20 years. Later working for Busboom & Rauh Construction until retirement.

Carl was a member of the NRA and Quivira Gun Club. Carl enjoyed target shooting, reloading hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, dancing, gardening, farming, woodworking, metalworking, and using his lathe and milling machine. Carl also went to auctions to socialize.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Erma Morris.

He is survived by his brother Dale Morris, nephew Kristopher Morris, niece Christa (Nathan) Shea, their four children Mackenzie Shea, Alexander Shea, Brooke Shea, and George Shea.

The family will receive friends 10-11 am at Ryan Mortuary, Salina KS. Followed by a burial at Roselawn Cemetery, Salina, KS.

Memorials may be made to KU Medical Center or KU Medical Eye Center.

Vaughn Dean Mignot

September 24, 1946 - July 3, 2026

Vaughn Dean Mignot

Vaughn Dean Mignot , age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, after a long battle with dementia.

Born September 24, 1946 in Salina, Kansas, he was one of two sons to Donald and Elda Mignot. He attended school at Gypsum, Kansas and received his bachelor's degree at Kansas State University.

He started his career in banking at the First National Bank in Salina. He later followed his entrepreneurial spirit and became a real estate investor and part owner of LaHacienda Restaurant.

Vaughn enjoyed late night gigs with the band, playing pool, writing music, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Vaughn is survived by his two daughters, Shawn Mignot, Stefany (Todd) Kaniper, his five grandchildren (Anna, Linzy, Allison, Morgan, and Ty), his newborn great grandchild (Porter), and his Last National Band brothers. He is preceded in death by his brother, Denny, and his parents, Donald and Elda Mignot.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 9 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery on Farrelly Rd near Kipp.

The family would like to recognize the amazing people that provided excellent care for Vaughn through his time of need that allowed him to transition with dignity and respect. The family would also like to express gratitude to Tom Pestinger for the brotherhood he demonstrated to Vaughn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dignity Cares in care of Dignity Care Home, Interim Hospice of Salina, Gypsum Valley Community Foundation Fund or Salina Automobile Museum of America, DBA the Garage Fund.
