YMCA Adjusts Fall Youth Sports Schedule, Allowing Kids to Play Multiple Sports
The Salina Family YMCA is adjusting its fall youth sports schedule to give children the opportunity to participate in more than one program without overlapping games.
Youth soccer and flag football will be held during the first half of the fall season, followed by youth volleyball later in the year. The YMCA said the revised schedule is intended to provide families with greater flexibility while allowing young athletes to explore multiple sports.
Registration is currently open for soccer and flag football through August 3.
Youth soccer is available for children in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Flag football is open to students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Games for both programs will be played on Saturdays from September 12 through October 10.
Youth volleyball will begin during the second half of the fall season, with games scheduled on Saturdays from October 24 through November 21. Registration for volleyball will open August 3.
YMCA youth sports programs emphasize skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence in addition to competition. By separating the seasons, YMCA officials hope more children will be able to remain active throughout the fall and participate in multiple programs.
Parents interested in soccer or flag football are encouraged to register before the August 3 deadline. Additional volleyball registration information will be available when enrollment opens.
