Salina Man Arrested After Alleged Threat at Motel
A Salina man was arrested Monday night after allegedly threatening a motel employee during an eviction dispute.
According to the Salina Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 14, 2026, to the Marifah Inn, 1846 N. Ninth Street, following a report of threats. Callers also reported that the subject may have been armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with motel employees, who reported they were in the process of evicting a tenant identified as Walter C. Shields II, 53, of Salina.
During the incident, Shields allegedly became upset with one of the employees and threatened to kill him. Police said the threat caused the employee to fear for his safety.
Officers located Shields and took him into custody without incident.
A search of the area and subsequent investigation did not locate a firearm.
Shields was transported to the Saline County Jail and booked on one count of Criminal Threat.
The investigation remains ongoing.
