Two Arrested After Occupying Vacant Home Under Renovation
Two individuals were arrested Tuesday afternoon after being found inside a vacant residence undergoing renovations.
According to the Salina Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:45 p.m. on July 15, 2026, to the 400 block of South 11th Street regarding subjects inside a residence that was being renovated.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with 33-year-old Kyle Cavitt and 35-year-old Stephanie Dewey. The pair reportedly told officers they had observed the vacant residence the previous day and decided to move in.
Investigators determined damage had been caused to a door, resulting in approximately $300 in damage. Officers also found the pair had been using utilities at the residence without authorization.
Cavitt and Dewey were taken into custody and transported to the Saline County Jail.
Both were booked on requested charges of Burglary, Theft of Services, and Criminal Damage to Property.
