Woman Arrested After Being Found Inside Occupied Salina Apartment
A Salina woman was arrested Thursday evening after being found inside an apartment she allegedly entered without permission.
According to the Salina Police Department, officers responded at approximately 5:20 p.m. on July 16, 2026, to the 1800 block of South Broadway after a resident reported an unknown woman was inside his apartment.
Officers made contact with a 53-year-old man who reported returning home and discovering a woman he did not know inside his residence.
Police issued verbal commands for the woman to exit the apartment, but received no response. Officers then entered the apartment to clear it and located a woman identified as Shailyn Baker, 21.
According to police, Baker failed to comply with officers' commands and resisted when they attempted to take her into custody. Officers were ultimately able to secure her without further incident.
Investigators determined Baker was in possession of several clothing items belonging to the resident.
Baker was transported to the Saline County Jail and booked on requested charges of Burglary, Theft, and Interference with Law Enforcement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
