Catholic Charities Hosts Green Tie Celebration to Support Families Across Northern Kansas
Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas brought supporters together Saturday evening in Salina for its 2026 Green Tie Celebration, an annual fundraiser supporting assistance programs across the organization’s 31-county service area.
The event was held from 6 to 10 p.m. July 18 at the Salina Country Club. The evening included a social hour, dinner, testimonials from people connected to the organization’s work and a live auction conducted by Gene Francis & Associates.
Funds raised through the celebration will support Catholic Charities programs providing food, counseling, pregnancy support, emergency assistance and other services to individuals and families experiencing hardship.
Donations associated with this year’s fundraiser are being matched dollar-for-dollar up to $150,000 through commitments from a group of donors. A contribution reaching the full match would generate as much as $300,000 for the organization’s programs.
Catholic Charities described the Green Tie Celebration as an opportunity to recognize its supporters while raising money needed to continue serving residents throughout northern Kansas.
The organization provides several forms of assistance, including emergency financial and housing help, food and hygiene supplies, diapers, transportation assistance, pregnancy services, counseling, disaster relief and outreach services for rural communities.
Catholic Charities also recently announced that it is providing disaster-relief assistance to families affected by severe storms and their aftermath. Potential needs identified by the organization include replacement food, repairs, housing or utility concerns, lost wages, transportation costs and insurance deductibles.
Green was selected as the theme for the annual fundraiser because the organization associates the color with hope, renewal and faith. Guests were encouraged to include green in their evening attire.
Catholic Charities had not announced a final fundraising or attendance total for the 2026 Green Tie Celebration as of Sunday. Additional donations may still be made directly to the organization.
