Salina Man Arrested Following Series of Vehicle Burglaries and Stolen Vehicle Investigation

Salina Police are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries reported in the 1800 to 2000 blocks of Mark Street.

Investigators believe between eight and twelve vehicles were entered during the early morning hours. Most of the vehicles were unlocked, and in at least one case keys were left inside a vehicle, resulting in the theft of a Buick Regal.

Among the items stolen was a Sig Sauer .380 handgun, which had not been recovered as of the latest update.

Surveillance footage captured activity in the area between approximately 2:30 and 3:00 a.m., providing investigators with a suspect description.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Wilson for a hit-and-run accident. A Buick Regal was located after striking several parked vehicles. The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived. Investigators later determined the Buick had been stolen from the Mark Street area.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., officers in the 400 block of South 11th observed a male matching the suspect description captured on surveillance video. The individual was identified as Andrew Pruitt, 43, of Salina.

Pruitt was taken into custody and initially charged with three counts of Vehicle Burglary. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues, including possible charges related to the stolen Buick Regal and additional vehicle burglary cases.

Police continue to remind residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables, secure firearms, and never leave keys inside unattended vehicles. The investigation remains ongoing.
