Firearms, Tools Stolen in Burglary of Outbuilding North of Salina

The Saline County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary that occurred at a property in the 4600 block of North Powers Road.

According to investigators, a 63-year-old male resident left his property at approximately 7:45 a.m. on the 20th and returned around 4:15 p.m., when he discovered that a detached building on the property had been burglarized.

The building had been secured when the victim left. Investigators believe the suspect or suspects initially attempted to force entry by kicking the walk-through door, causing damage. When those efforts were unsuccessful, a window was broken to gain access to the building. Once inside, the suspect(s) opened the overhead door.

Damage to the door and broken window was estimated at $565.

Among the items reported stolen were a Winchester .243 rifle with scope, a Marlin .22 rifle, a Remington 870 shotgun, a black powder pistol, a 10-gauge shotgun, a Red Ryder BB gun, a pellet gun, a 16-inch steel chainsaw, a Bostitch six-gallon air compressor, six Dewalt 20-volt rechargeable batteries, a Dewalt impact driver, a Milwaukee cordless hammer drill, a Dewalt compound miter saw, a shooting bipod, a large Arctic cooler, and assorted liquor.

The total value of the stolen property was estimated at $4,780, bringing the combined loss, including damage, to approximately $5,345.

No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
