Salina Commission Accepts Ivey Resignation, Elects Davis Vice Mayor
The Salina City Commission voted unanimously Monday to formally accept the resignation of Commissioner Jerry Ivey II and elected Commissioner Trent Davis to serve as vice mayor.
Ivey’s resignation was accepted on a 4-0 vote and became effective July 24, 2026.
Following the vote, Mayor Michael Hoppock thanked Ivey for his service to the city and wished him and his family well in the future.
Ivey had also been serving as vice mayor, requiring the remaining commissioners to select another member for the leadership position. Davis was elected vice mayor by a 4-0 vote.
The resignation leaves one vacancy on Salina’s five-member, at-large City Commission.
Commissioners were also scheduled to discuss the process and timeline for selecting a person to fill the remainder of Ivey’s term. The July 27 meeting agenda listed possible direction to city staff regarding how applications or expressions of interest would be accepted.
